Brazil is moving into top gear
in order to finish preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. With
excitement already building it appears that those wishing to attend the
event personally are in for a bit of a shock, for fans, this will be the
most expensive world cup ever....
For starters, simply attending the event
could cost between $6,000 to $12,000. This is excluding travel, flights
to the country and back, as well as traveling around Brazil itself.
Just tickets for actual matches are pretty high, with the minimum ticket
price being $150.Speaking of travel, Brazil is quite a large country with an area of about 8.5 million KM squared, not much smaller than the U.S.A. This means there’s a great deal of distance between stadia and simply traveling to them for different matches could be extremely costly. It seems Brazil 2014 will be a massive financial success, even if there are empty seats (Which even with the ticket prices, is extremely unlikely). Much of it is already paid for as almost 95% of funding comes from advertising and TV broadcasting rights. The U.S. broadcaster who won the rights to broadcast the 2018 and 2022 did so only after bidding over $600 million
