Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been sent off in his side's Premier League clash with Swansea City, minutes after scoring his second goal of the season..
The Spain forward has endured a torrid start to his Stamford Bridge career, although looked to have recaptured some of the form that led to his £50million transfer to west London against Manchester United last weekend. Torres scored a second half goal at Old Trafford, yet compounded his misery further with a horrendous miss five minutes from the end of time last Sunday. However the 27-year-old looked to have further defied critics after opening the scoring against Brendan Rogers' Swansea on Saturday, only to be sent off moments later. Reporting from Stamford Bridge, our chief correspondent Wayne Veysey gave us his comments on Torres' red card: "With Chelsea on a high after going 2-0 up and starting to dominate, Torres has been sent off for a two-footed lunge on Mark Gower just by the halfway line. "Although Gower was unhurt, it was horribly timed and could have caused serious injury. Referee Mike Dean had no hesitation in showing Torres a straight red card, which will bring the striker a three-match ban."
