Mourinho 'wanted to come to Barcelona'

Premier League
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed Jose Mourinho wanted to coach the Catalan club after leaving Chelsea in 2008....

Following Frank Rijkaard's exit at the end of the 2007-08 season, Barca touted Mourinho as a possible replacement for the Dutchman.
But the Chelsea boss joined Inter Milan before heading to Real Madrid after Barca decided Pep Guardiola's management style was better suited to the club.
Laporta insists Mourinho was keen to move to the Camp Nou and is a fan of the club.
"Mourinho is a little bit of a Cule and he wanted to come to Barcelona, but it wasn't possible because we had decided to sign Guardiola as coach," he told El Pais.
However, Laporta sugggested Mourinho would have been a better choice, given the demands of Barcelona chairman Sandro Rosell.
The lawyer spoke of his strained relationship with Rosell and his admiration for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
"I respect Florentino, and I'm not a friend of the current Barcelona chairman Rosell because all he has done has hurt me since he arrive," Laporta added.
"He [Guardiola] was forced to take up roles that weren't in his remit. Pep had a lot of character and Rosell and his group weren't interested in that. Moreover, he reminded them too much of our term [during Laporta's presidency] at Barcelona."
