Wenger prepared for 'stressful' month For Champion League Qualifier

Premier League
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is preparing himself for what he expects to be a stressful month, as he is already turning his attention to his side's crucial Champions League play-off ties....

After watching the Gunners lose their Emirates Cup decider against a Didier Drogba-inspired Galatasaray in front of their home supporters, Wenger again conceded he may not make a major signing before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
Yet it is the prospect of a two leg European tie that appears to be more prominent in his thoughts than any further bids for Liverpool's Luis Suarez or other high profile transfer targets.
"It's very difficult to predict if something will be sorted out before we play in the Champions League qualifier," he told reporters when quizzed on the prospects of making additions to his squad ahead of Friday’s draw for the European play-off.
"It's a stressful situation but we did fight very hard to be in that situation and now it's time to take advantage of the fact we finished fourth and we have an opportunity to qualify.
"Of course it's always very tricky to qualify but we have the experience of having done it before. I think we have enough quality to achieve it with the players we have in at the moment and if we can have some more in before then, it’s even better."
Wenger emphasised the need for Arsenal to be ready to explode out of the blocks in the first Premier League game of the season, with the Champions League play-off inked into the diary just a few days later.
"It's important that we start strongly in the championship because that will have an influence on our performance in the Champions League," he added.
"We just want to be ready. We have only 90 minutes now before we start the championship and it is important that we recover a little bit from the two days and prepare well for our next game against Man City, a friendly in Helsinki. Then we have to be ready."
Wenger went on to confirm that he is about to offload two of his failed signings from recent years, with winger Gervinho set to join Roma and striker Marouane Chamakh on his way to Crystal Palace.
