The Champions League winners
already showed an interest in
signing the versatile attacker in
the summer of 2011 , and were
now ready to pay in excess of
€20 million for the 21-year-old
forward.
"We have received a very
concrete offer from Chelsea for
Andre Schurrle worth over
€20m. Both clubs shoved figures
back and forth for a while, but
we eventually opted to hold on
to Andre," Holzhauser is quoted
as saying by Express.
"Andre has too much importance
for us on the pitch [to let go of
him]. He has also made it very
clear that he is happy to stay
with us."
Chelsea have already
strengthened their attack with
players such as Eden Hazard and
Marko Marin, but their offer for
Schurrle shows that the Premier
League giants aren't done on the
transfer market just yet.
