The Super Eagles of
Nigeria will square up
against the Lone Stars
of Liberia in the final
qualification round for
the 2013 African Cup
of Nations to be held
in South Africa from
January 19 to
February 10 2013.
The Eagles were drawn against
their West African neighbours
on Thursday evening in
Johannesburg, South Africa.
A Super Eagles team made up of
mainly home-based players and
led by Coach Stephen Keshi had
recently defeated the Lone Stars
in Monrovia by 2 un-replied
goals.
Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire seem
to have drawn the worst tie.
The tournament will be without
one of these two power houses
as they are billed to square of
against each other.
The other draws from the event
are as follows:

Mali v Botswana
Burkina Faso v Central Africa
Republic
Zimbabwe v Angola
Malawi v Ghana
Zambia v Uganda
Morocco v Mozambique
Cape Verde v Cameroon

Libya v Algeria
Guinea v Niger
Sudan v Ethiopia
Equatorial Guinea v DR Congo
Thirty countries were divided
into Pot A and Pot B went into
the draw for the final
qualification route for the
tournament.
Pot A which had all the seeded
teams based on showings at
the last three editions of the
AFCON finals after the second
round of qualifiers had Algeria,
Angola, Burkina Faso,
Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Gabon,
Ghana, Guinea, Equatorial
Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria,
Sudan, Tunisia and Zambia.
Pot B had Botswana, Cape Verde
Islands, Central Africa Republic,
Ethiopia, Liberia, Libya, Malawi,
Mozambique, Niger, DR Congo,
Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo,
Uganda and Zimbabwe.
The 30 countries that go into
the draw will produce 15
winners that will join host
nation South Africa to make up
the 16 finalists.
A two legged system of home
and away final round of
qualifiers will be played on
September 7-9 and October
12-14 will determine who goes
into the 16 teams finals draw
on October 26.
