Carlos Vela has agreed to join Spanish side Real Sociedad on a permanent deal, bringing an end to his seven-year stay with Arsenal.
Carlos Vela: "Returned home" to Real Sociedad
Mexico striker Vela was on loan at Sociedad last season, making 35 appearances and scoring 12 goals to finish the campaign as top scorer for the Spanish side.
Vela, 23, has found his first-team opportunities in the Premier League limited and the Gunners granted the forward permission to negotiate a move to La Liga.
"Arsenal Football Club has announced that striker Carlos Vela is in San Sebastian this evening for final discussions about a permanent move to Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad," read a statement on Arsenal's official website..
"The 23-year old Mexican international spent the whole of 2011/12 on loan with the Spanish club and enjoyed a successful campaign in La Liga. Vela made his Arsenal debut in 2008 and has made 62 appearances, scoring 11 goals."
Vela, who has previously played on loan at Salamanca, Osasuna and West Bromwich Albion, is expected to put the final touches to a four-year deal after Sociedad declared the striker had "come home".
